{"id":3881,"date":"2022-09-12T16:45:14","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/captures-editions.com\/produit\/le-piege\/"},"modified":"2022-11-25T15:14:33","modified_gmt":"2022-11-25T14:14:33","slug":"le-piege","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/captures-editions.com\/en\/produit\/le-piege\/","title":{"rendered":"Le Pi\u00e8ge (The Trap)"},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\"><i><b>Le Pi\u00e8ge (The Trap)<\/b><\/i>, Val\u00e9rie du Ch\u00e9n\u00e9 &amp; Arlette Farge, 2022<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">A new milestone in a fruitful dialogue begun in 2014; in <i>Le Pi\u00e8ge (The Trap)<\/i>, <b>Val\u00e9rie du Ch\u00e9n\u00e9<\/b> presents a series of black and white drawings accompanied by newspaper headlines (cut and recomposed) in a reaction to press articles. <b>Arlette Farge<\/b> \u201ccatches\u201d these drawings and titles \u201cin flight\u201d, seized by their \u201csocial and political momentum\u201d; the writing flows with seriousness and empathy, sketching the ordinary and sometimes tragic lives of men and women \u2013 taking a look at a changing world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">The open confrontation of text\/ drawing \u2013 like two alterities \u00ad\u2013 one of which does not necessarily match the other; of drawings and titles that at times, take on a mysterious character and invite everyone to make their way and to summon their own images and memories of ordinary and political moments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\"><b>Val\u00e9rie du Ch\u00e9n\u00e9<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\"> (born in 1974) is a graduate of the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">\u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">teaches at the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">Institut sup\u00e9rieur des arts et du design <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">in Toulouse (isdaT). Her work, in its various forms of painting, sculpture, installation and drawing, has as its backbone the question of encounter and confrontation with the other and\/or with space (both public and exhibition space). Du Ch\u00e9n\u00e9 recently exhibited at the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">Mus\u00e9e r\u00e9gional d\u2019art contemporain <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">(Mrac) Occitanie and the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">Chapelle Saint-Jacques centre d\u2019art contemporain de Saint-Gaudens<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Cambria, serif\">. Across numerous works, she studies <i>the hidden face<\/i> and restores the ordinary life of people who were not considered as &#8220;subjects&#8221; of History; Farge is interested in \u201csmall intensities\u201d, in micro-history. Her latest book, <span style=\"color: #212121\"><i>Vie oubli\u00e9es. Au c\u0153ur du <\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><i>xviii<\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><sup><i>e <\/i><\/sup><\/span><span style=\"color: #212121\"><i>si\u00e8cle<\/i><\/span> (Forgotten Lives.
